Mayan Riviera real estate: New toll road connects the Riviera Maya

If you own Mayan Riviera real estate, exploring other parts of Mexico might be something you are looking forward to do during one of your visits. Trips to the beautiful cities of Mérida and Valladolid and the island of Holbox have just gotten faster and easier thanks to a new toll road that has opened up between Playa del Carmen and the Yucatán cities. This road was built to increase the amount of visitors between the Riviera Maya and Isla Holbox, Valladolid, and Mérida and also to make the transportation of goods between cities easier, this new road has cut the amount of travel time by an hour or more!

The capital of the Yucatán, Mérida is very cultural city, boasting multiple museums and art galleries, as well as incredible historical sites and buildings that date as far back as the 1500’s. Before the toll road, the trip to Merida would take you almost 4 hours, now you can be there in 2 hours and 50 minutes, saving you a full hour of driving.

If you plan on visiting one of the most amazing Mayan Ruins in Mexico, Chichen Itza, you wlll go through the city of Valladolid, a great city to stop in on your way to the ruins. Like Mérida, Valladolid has a lot of culture and history; great architecture, restaurants and the beautiful Cenote Zací. The new toll road saves travelers an hour of drive time when driving to Valladolid.

The biggest time savings, Isla Holbox is north of Cancun and before the toll road it would take travelers almost 2 hours to arrive; now you can do the trip in only 45 minutes! Isla Holbox is a quiet island, with beautiful wildlife to see, the most popular being the whale sharks, which migrate to the island in the summer months.
Keep in mind that this new road from the Riviera Maya to Isla Holbox, Valladolid, and Mérida does feature tolls but the shorter distance and time savings will be worth the pesos. This toll road is a great new addition to the Riviera Maya, allowing residents and tourists to explore these incredible areas of Mexico! Whether you own Tulum real estate or real estate in Playa del Carmen, these three great places are easily accessible, jump in the car and explore!!
We would love to hear about any trips you’ve taken on the new toll road, tell us about your adventures in the comments below!
